Each of Jeanne Rewa's graphite pencil portraits are done precisely and with care. After finding a suitable photo and studying it, Jeanne chooses an appropriate size and layout for the subject on the paper. After an initial line sketch with a light pencil, Jeanne finishes off the drawing a section at a time, starting with the darkest and softest pencil areas and working over it with up to six different pencils, finishing with a light, hard pencil.
An average drawing takes twelve to sixteen hours to complete.
